Shatwell Hay Barn
This contemporary diagrid roof frame is made from BauBuche, a beech Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) which is an engineered timber product made by Pollmeier in Germany. We were the first company in the UK to use this extraordinary material which is immensely strong and dimensionally stable. Due to the way it’s manufactured it can be supplied in long lengths and different widths; its inherent strength allows unusually slender sections to be used. The frame geometry was cut accurately by hand with power tools. We incorporated modern connection systems that are housed within the ends of each member using pairs of interlocking dovetail plates held with an array of special screws with formed stainless steel corner reinforcement brackets. The timber was supplied with a machine planed finish which we sanded and oiled prior to installation.
