We were delighted to be involved with the new additions to Wells Cathedral near us in Somerset. The architectural concept for the new entrance porch and spire was to combine traditional materials and techniques but in a clearly contemporary manner. Our work led to the design and construction of the octagonal cruck frame and roof structure above within the spire of the porch. The hand shaped crucks and other oak timbers were given a planed and oiled finish, it was built with carpentry pegged joints and a few stainless steel bolts and screws.
